FACILITIES PROVIDED AT SIMS
The new purpose built building was inaugurated in the year 2018 where all the class rooms are well equipped with modern teaching aids like smart DIGITAL BOARDS and CCTV cameras are also installed in all the class rooms and corridors to monitor the activities.
SWIMMING POOL
Swimming is one of the most popular sports in Kuwait. Swimming is a healthy and low impact activity for the lifetime that has many physical and mental health benefits. Learning to swim can be one of the most memorable experiences of childhood – to celebrate, to be energetic and experience self-esteem. An indoor swimming pool is the best place to visit SIMS that includes kids’ friendly amenities and private changing rooms. The pool is large enough for lap swimming which can be used for full-fledged swimming practice. Our School provides the basic foundation in swimming fostering authentic water climate control and comfort for the children planned according to the best safety measures taken while enjoying the activity. The emphasis is given to the understanding of basic to advance level skills in a child through joy and kindness.
SIMS LIBRARY
It is said that libraries are sacred time machines where knowledge flows and magic is eternal. The SIMS library is a place where students can find inspiration, information, and connection with the world – and peace. The walls of the library are lined with rows and rows of bookshelves, specializing in genres ranging from autobiographies of great people to the greatest classics, from science fiction to encyclopedias to dictionaries, from books on poetry and drama to mystery, adventure and detective novels. There are also a vast number of reference books on different subjects for students as well as teachers from kindergarten to grade 12. With its comfortable black leather chairs and long wooden tables, it reminds one of the Harry Potter movies’ dining halls, except the fact that here in the library you will be met with a calm, serene silence and surrounded by walls of words, beautiful and wise.
MULTIPURPOSE HALL
The SIMS Multipurpose Hall is an expansive space with a capacity of 500 people. Since its opening in 2012, it has hosted numerous gala events like Annual days, Investitures, Independence Day celebrations, Grade 12 farewells, Talent shows, Inter- school quiz competitions, Science fairs ……the list is endless. It is in this hall that students begin their day with their assemblies. It is the place in the school where everlasting memories have been created, life-changing announcements made, joyful victories achieved and many important lessons learned. There is also a grand stage and podium where performers and orators have wooed the audience. The all-season air-conditioning system adds comfort and convenience to the auditorium’s ambience. The state-of-the-art sound system ensures that each word is clearly audible to the audience seated in the hall. The whole set-up of the auditorium has an international look and feel and is one of the many feathers in our cap.
PHYSICS LAB

To provide an experimental foundation for the theoretical concepts introduced in the
lectures, it is important that students have an opportunity to substantiate some of the
ideas for themselves. Here at Salmiya Indian Model School, our Physics laboratory is
equipped with modern instruments to help students learn concepts of Physics
practically. It is designed to give practice of taking measurements, analyzing data and
drawing inferences while the students experiment. There’s a computer in the lab for
the students to reach for data collection and analysis. Every student of SIMS from
primary classes to grade 12 is facilitated a scheduled visit to the lab to carry out
experiments. The conglomerate includes magnets, pulleys, pendulums, inclined
planes, heat lamps, beakers, mirrors, lenses, glasses, prisms, tuning forks, item scales
etc along with sophisticated instruments like microscopes, electromagnets, voltmeter,
potentiometer, Meter Bridge etc.
Our lab is quite spacious and well ventilated to provide a favorable and work-at-ease
space for the students. The resonance condition so often proves attractive and
interactive. The pin-boards on each wall are decorated with suitable charts and
illustrations. The highly experienced and qualified staff ensures a safe and educative
lab experience for the students. Here at SIMS, we believe practical education lays a
solid foundation in building a student’s academic life.
CHEMISTRY LAB
Chemistry LABORATORY :
Purpose of Chemistry Laboratory: The purpose of the laboratory component of the
course is several-fold. It reinforces the material. It gives a chance to apply knowledge.
Students can learn some important experimental techniques that are necessary to
become effective scholars. New standard test methods may be developed to improve
and facilitate the chemical analysis.
Chemistry Laboratory Description:
Our laboratory with advanced equipments and facilities aid and stimulate our students
for them to learn best with practical knowledge. It empowers them with better
comprehension and moves their inquisitiveness in the correct direction.
Our laboratory has all the necessary equipment for preparation of samples and
standards for various analyses of liquid and solid samples.
As per the curriculum of CBSE and IGCSE board, our laboratory houses all latest
technological based equipments including glassware, centrifuges to quickly separate
chemicals, Bunsen burner to activate chemicals using heat freezers to stabilize or store
samples, high power ventilation for air safety, specific space for eye wash, reaction
hood, safety goggles etc. The lab is created to be fire resistant and prevent any kind of
mishap. The windows and environmental friendly lighting are specially designed
keeping in mind visibility.
BIOLOGY LAB
Observations and experiments make learning more interesting and fun. The Biology lab at SIMS is well equipped with nearly 50 preserved specimens, slides, more than 50 models, 20 microscopes and bio visual charts which emphasize on developing scientific temper among the students. Our lab is constructed in such a way that it can accommodate more than 30 students and is well ventilated. We follow all the necessary safety measures like having a fire extinguisher, a well advanced first aid box and an emergency exit .Students enjoy it as they learn something new from the results. Students of class IX to XII are guided for practicals. Occasionally students of other classes also make use of biology lab for various activities related to general science, which help them to learn new concepts. Biology students at SIMS do more than study science: they learn to follow their curiosity, explore hypotheses, and contribute in a meaningful way as young scientists.
COMPUTER LAB
Technology advancement has affected every sphere of life especially education. This
has changed our perception of what a school should provide for its students. In times
of booming technology the computer labs at SIMS (Salmiya Indian Model School)
provide the appropriate platform to the students to be future technocrats.
The school
has two computer labs which cater to the needs of Junior and senior sections with a
well-equipped projector which helps the students to learn more effectively.
The senior lab is used by the students of classes 9 to 12 and IG. It houses 25
computers, a HP LaserJet printer, with recent versions of software like windows 7.0
Ultimate, MySQL, Net beans, Java, Anaconda spider, Adobe dream weaver, Adobe
Flash, Adobe reader, MS-Office with High-speed Internet facility.
The Junior lab has 24 computers with internet facility and is used by the students of
classes 1 to 8 where students can take hands-on experience by working on wallpapers,
screen savers, paint, Logo, Notepad, Calculator etc. to advanced software like MS-
Office, Flash and Web Designing.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
Wearing the SIMS uniform is a badge of pride. It creates an identity for the school
and is an important part of being a student of SIMS. It also teaches students to dress
smartly and take pride in their appearance.
The SIMS uniform is a white shirt and dark grey pinafore for girls and dark grey pants
with a school belt of white and maroon stripes for boys The uniform for both girls and
boys is embellished by a smartly cut maroon blazer with the SIMS logo proudly
displayed and a maroon
and grey striped tie.
There is also a sports uniform to be worn twice a week on PE
days. It consists of a white sports jersey and trousers, the color of the trousers varying
in accordance with the different houses in the school. All this is accompanied by
special school socks and black shoes/sandals on regular days and white sports shoes
on PE days.
The kindergarten uniform is a lovely red and off-white checkered skirt for girls and
similarly patterned pants for boys with a cream shirt.
The school uniform can be bought from the store located on the school premises.
CAFETERIA
The school cafeteria, right at the center of the school, is the place where children from
grade 1 to 12 get pulled magically like iron filings to a magnet. Come break time and
the peal of the bell brings hundreds of feet scampering from different directions. The
aroma of healthy delicious snacks gives that much-needed boost of energy after hours
of concentration in classes. It is our belief that the mind functions well if the stomach
is well-fed. With a number of servers and volunteers, the children don’t have to wait
long to get their meals.
The presence of several members of the student council in the
cafeteria ensures discipline and order, making it safe and secure for the smaller
children also. Our cafeteria also allows our children to spend time with their
classmates outside of the classroom, in a more relaxed and pleasant environment.
SPORTS FACILITY
Children Learn & Achieve while having fun at SIMS. Games and Sports curriculum is an integral and compulsory part of the education process. Sports is beneficial for the overall development including Gross and Fine motor skills in a child. Sports help to build character and teach the importance of discipline in life. It inculcates a respect for rules and allows the students to learn the value to self-control.

Our children had brought laurels to the school in the CBSE Kuwait Clusters and other Inter School competitions.
In the year 2019-2020, the SIMS under 14 girls team secured First position in the CBSE Table Tennis Clusters Kuwait and even qualified for the CBSE National Table Tennis tournament held in India in November 2019.
The school Athletics and Swimming team also secured first and second position in various age and event categories in boys and girls.
The school also offers intramural competitions every year in all the sports.
One of our students Marya Jasvi was a proud member of Kuwait National Women Cricket Team.
MEDICARE
A well equipped Clinic to handle day today injuries and minor ailments as per approval of Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health. Any serious problems are immediately referred to Local Area Health Clinics as per advisory of the Ministry of Health. The School clinic is managed by well qualified Nursing staff approved by the Ministry of Health, Kuwait. Ministry of Health, Kuwait staff also visits the school clinic from time to time. School clinic is primarily a first aid medical care centre.
